Since 1975 Roy Raspanti has litigated cases before every level of State and Federal Court in parishes throughout Louisiana. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana and all Louisiana courts. SUPREME COURT OF LOUISIANA
State v Brown (defense-criminal) 389 So.2d 48 (1980). The Louisiana Supreme Court , through Justice Calogero, held that the portion of R.S. 40 :969 (c) making it illegal " unknowingly " to possess a Schedule IV substance was unconstitutional . The word " unknowingly " had been added to R.S. 40 : 969 (c) by the legislature in 1973.
State v Conley (defense-criminal) 411 So.2d 448 (La. 1982). The Supreme Court accepted defendant's contention that the ineligibility provision of R.S. 14 : 62.2 should attach only to its minimum one - year term and held that the sentence imposed on defendant was clearly illegal and must be vacated.

Roy Raspanti is past president of the American Italian Bar Association of Louisiana. He has been a member of the House of Delegates of the Louisiana State Bar Association since 2000 and is a member of the Jefferson Parish Bar Association and the New Orleans Bar Association. He graduated from Tulane Law School in 1975 and Louisiana State University in New Orleans (University of New Orleans) in 1972.
